Get the most from your home lighting
Each interior designer has a different personality, and therefore different ideas which they deem ideal when it comes to lighting your home.
But there are certain rules everyone must follow to get the most from lighting your home. Each room has different lighting rules in order to benefit their surroundings the most. Here are some simple rules to follow to get the most from your lighting. You can find everything you might need to optimise your homes lighting, right here at Arrow Electrical.
Every room in your home has a specific role to play in your every day life. The bathroom needs to be well lit for you to get dressed without any miss matched colour mishaps. If you’re a lady, you’ll need good lighting in order to be able to apply your makeup without ending up looking like Coco the clown, and if you’re a man, you don’t want to accidentally slice your ear off whilst shaving.
When you stand directly under a light, without any lights to the side of your face, it can create exaggerated and unflattering shadows. For best results when applying makeup, or shaving is lights at the sides of the mirror, probably at eye level. This will minimise shadows and provide even lighting distribution around your face.
The kitchen is a place many of us spend a lot of time in, the lighting needs to be bright enough so you don’t chop your fingers instead of a carrot, but not so bright that it illuminates every water stain and slight smudge which inventively appear in every kitchen after time.
A great way to light your kitchen is to use LED task lights under the upper cabinets, however, if your kitchen is designed without any upper cabinets over work surfaces, it's not the end of the world. This is a great opportunity to use wall-mounted or ceiling recessed adjustable fixtures, these really do make all the difference. Why not add several low voltage halogen fixtures with a narrow flood beam distribution and focusing them on the task area? This works great in giving you the right amount of light for every day kitchen tasks.
